JOB PURPOSE As the HE Curriculum Co-ordinator in Nursing, you will join a progressive and dynamic team involved in developing an expanding Higher Education and Apprenticeship provision in Healthcare and Nursing. The post-holder will be responsible for coordinating and delivering a curriculum portfolio of Healthcare and Nursing programmes within the Health, Sport and Student Participation Faculty. The HE Curriculum Coordinator will develop outstanding teaching, learning and assessment across their respective programmes whilst ensuring positive student outcomes and satisfaction. The role will also involve working closely with key employers and trusts within the region to develop the critical workforce for the future through a high-quality progressive Healthcare provision. KEY TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES As the HE Curriculum Coordinator in Nursing, you will work within the Health and Counselling department. You will report to the Head of Health and Counselling, and ultimately to the Assistant Principal - Curriculum, for all programme related activities. The Assistant Principal - HE will inform and monitor all HE programmes, who will then liaise with the Assistant Principal - Curriculum and Head of Health and Counselling on any issues relevant to the programmes of study. As such, you will be responsible for the following: To effectively coordinate and deliver a curriculum portfolio that includes Apprenticeship and Higher Education programmes ensuring high levels of learner/apprentice success and progression. Including, but not exclusive to: o FdSc Nursing Curriculum development: with the Head of Health and Counselling and the HE Partnership and Development Manager, make recommendations regarding current and future curriculum developments, and if required, devise modifications in the appropriate format in a timely fashion for submission. To effectively coordinate and develop a portfolio of courses and study programmes that enable learners to succeed and progress. To deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment on a range of programmes. To coordinate and manage the performance of designated staff, ensuring that they can deliver a high-quality learning experience to students. Ensure consistency and compliance with UCW/University procedures across designated HE programmes. Working with the Assistant Principal Curriculum and Head of Health and Counselling to lead with the timetabling of programmes. To manage the marketing of provision and IAG for students within the subject area, ensuring that students are effectively recruited to courses that best meet their ability and aspirations. Assisting students in their progression from further to higher education and from higher education to further higher-level study and/or employment. Ensuring that effective Quality Assurance processes are implemented and robustly complied with to maximise student experience and satisfaction. Ensure that staff continually deliver a quality curriculum to meet the needs of students, ensuring that achievement, completion, retention and progression are met as a result. Having an interest in new and emerging industry developments, and to integrate and cascade such developments within the delivery of Health and Social Care. Tutoring a group of students, showing sensitivity to their needs and encouraging the highest possible standards. Reviewing and adapting curriculum offers to reflect new delivery modes and responses to agendas such as unemployment, retraining and upskilling. Grow long-term relationships with local, regional and national stakeholders within the Health sector to capitalise on partnership opportunities. Contributing to pedagogical innovation, curriculum development and planning within the HE Health department, in line with the UCW HE Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy. Engaging in industry and/or scholarly activity as required by the Head of Health and Counselling, HE Directorate, and in line with the UCW HE Learning, Teaching and Assessment Strategy. GENERIC TASKS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES The generic duties and responsibilities of a Curriculum Co-ordinator are as follows: Working with the Head of Health and Counselling to organise cover arrangements where required, assuring that academic standards are maintained. Be the first point of contact with the University Module Lead. Ensure that the Virtual Learning Environment for the subject area meets the standards set by UCW and the partner university. Take the lead in marketing the programme. Undertake interviews, manage admissions, and make offers to prospective students. Work with the HE Academic Registrar to ensure that all students are registered with the University and enrolled at the College in a timely fashion. Manage and coordinate the writing of course/student handbooks and module handbooks, liaising with the Head of Health and Counselling. Work with the Head of Health and Counselling staff in assuring appropriate assignment briefs for approval by the partner university. Devise an assessment schedule, liaising with the Programme staff for the partner university's approval. Confirm arrangements for internal moderation with the Programme staff, ensuring that an even spread of student work is sampled. Ensure that an appropriate sample of work is available for external moderation and scrutiny by the External Examiner. Submit grades for assessed work in compliance with College / University Assessment Regulations. Attend College/University Field/Subject/Exam Boards, when required. To support HE recruitment activity and where required to deliver workshops and/or teach on Level 3 Weston College provision. To liaise with the Higher Education Specialist Support Manager for students with a specific learning difference and/or eligible for the Disabled Student Allowance (DSA) and other learning support needs. Liaise with Head of Health and Counselling and Library Plus to assure that the programme is continually resourced and updated. Ensure that the student experience across the programme is positive. Ensure the "student voice" is captured, including: Introduction Questionnaire. Module Evaluation Questionnaire. Chair Staff Student Liaison Committee meetings. Ensure complete and effective engagement with the National Student Survey (NSS). Work with the Programme staff to produce the Annual Programme Monitoring Report (APMR). Manage the periodic review of the programme. Attend relevant HE continuing professional development (HE CPD) days organised by UCW and partner universities. Deal with immediate student disciplinary issues by working with the HE Academic Registry Team (HEART). Participate and undertake Staff Appraisal and in-service training based upon assessing individual service needs. Meet the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the College's Health and Safety Procedures requirements. Complying with Information Security requirements, in line with Weston College policy. Be prepared to operate on a flexible year as required; academic staff will typically be expected to work not more than two evenings per week on average. Undertake such other duties as may be reasonably required, commensurate with the grade of the appointment. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY Line management responsibility of the teaching staff. SUPERVISORY RECEIVED Reports directly to the Head of Health and Counselling. HEALTH AND SAFETY All staff have a duty to maintain the safe and clean conditions of their workplace area and to co-operate with Weston College on matters of Health and Safety. This will include assisting with risk assessments and carrying out appropriate actions, as required. Staff are required to refer to Weston Colleges Health and Safety Policies in respect to their specific duties and responsibilities. STAFF DEVELOPMENT All staff are required to participate fully in Weston Colleges staff development programmes and they have a responsibility to identify their own professional development needs in conjunction with their line manager.
