Are you an experienced Credit Controller within the insurance sector and looking for a new role in a growing team? We are looking for an experienced, passionate and motivated insurance Credit Controller to join our successful Credit Management Team in Bristol.
Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to contribute to the delivery of Credit Management’s objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through the timely and effective performance of duties, maintaining standards, building effective relationships and providing supervisory support to the Credit Management Team Leader.
Key Responsibilities
* Performs specialised tasks required to support operations (e.g., IT development, research support, skilled trade).
* Undertakes credit control activities, in accordance with the defined processes, to ensure prompt premium payment and to achieve agreed KPIs.
* Ensures timely and accurate allocation of payments to the appropriate policy entries. This includes the coordination and reconciliation of all items on Broker accounts.
* Escalates to business and/or Team Leader where support is needed to improve broker payment performance or resolve queries.
* Processes accounting entries and payment requests in accordance with assigned authority levels.
* Works with offshore team in collaboration to achieve targeted portfolio results.
* Ensures policy and procedures, workflow for assigned areas of responsibility, as well as archived records to satisfy audit and statutory requirements are maintained.
* Performs assigned leadership activities to support the Team Leader with managing the team and ensuring best practices are applied.
* Deputises and/or attends meetings in the Team Leader's absence.
* Prepares and issues monthly broker statements of accounts.
* Allocates funds received and requests closings and slips from Brokers.
* Pursues debtors frequently by telephone, email, and teams meeting to secure payment.
* Identifies and escalates NOC from aged debt.
* Builds strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to progress the collection process.
* Engages and chairs regular meetings with each business unit to address any credit control issues and escalations.
* Provides oversight to existing processes, challenging any redundant requirements as the model evolves and ensures continuous improvements.
* Analyses and identifies inconsistencies and records errors in booked premium, liaises with underwriters and technical team to correct booked entries.
* Resolves unallocated cash, providing constructive feedback on issues which have resulted in misposting to unallocated cash.
* Performs ad hoc duties as requested by management.
Key Requirements
* Analytical problem-solving approach, ability to identify and analyse problems, creating and implementing solutions, decision-making skills.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organise, analyse and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
* Ability to complete large complex reconciliations on Broker accounts.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when conversing with external clients.
* Proactive and a team player, with time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
* Ability to multitask and meet SLAs.
Technical Skills
* An understanding of business and credit management processes and systems.
* Good knowledge of credit management best practices and the ability to apply this in their role.
* Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of all relevant Compliance and Regulatory rules and procedures.
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
* Able to manage workload and priorities, adapting to changing needs and priorities.
* Good negotiation and communication skills.
* Results-oriented, data-driven, and innovation-minded, able to adapt quickly.
Qualifications
* GCSE or equivalent (including Maths and English at grade C or above).
* CICM qualification to certificate level preferred, or a desire to study towards this qualification would be desirable.
Experience
* Significant experience of working in credit management / credit control.
* Experience working within the Insurance industry is desirable.
