Applications are invited for the post of specialty doctor in dermatology to work with an established team of seven consultants within the dermatology directorate.
Main duties of the job
Maintain the highest clinical standards in the practice of dermatology- Clinical as Outpatient clinics with the support of the consultants.
Direct clinical care covers:
1. Outpatient clinics
2. Clinical diagnostic work
3. Other patient treatment
4. Multi-disciplinary meetings about direct patient care
5. Administration directly related to patient care e.g. referrals, notes etc.
6. Triaging referrals weekly
Supporting professional activities covers:
1. Continuing professional development through the Royal Colleges
2. Teaching
3. Audit
4. Job planning
5. Appraisal
6. Research
7. Local clinical governance activities.
Education and training:
1. Clinical supervision of medical trainees.
2. Participation in departmental business and training meetings.
3. Taking an active part in clinical governance and audit.

The Dermatology Directorate
The Dermatology Directorate operates on a hub and spoke model. James Cook University Hospital is the centre, with services at University Hospital of North Tees, University Hospital of Hartlepool, The Friarage at Northallerton and One Life at Middlesbrough.
We have dedicated, purpose-built departments with modern consulting rooms, a dedicated theatre for day surgery and facilities for phototherapy, photochemotherapy, patch testing and iontophoresis.
Our academic centre provides postgraduate medical education, world class teaching and training and access to cutting edge healthcare research. It encompasses two large lecture theatres with the latest audio-visual technology and a considerable number of classrooms and seminar rooms, including ward facilities for teaching and examining.

Job responsibilities

Person Specification
Experience Essential
* Full registration and a Licence to Practice with the General Medical Council.
* Completed at least two years' full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time or flexible basis).
* Wide general dermatology and skin cancer experience.
* Willingness to work without immediate supervision, but with an awareness of one's individual limitations.
* Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively.
Teaching Essential
* Experience of teaching / training undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Audit Essential
* Evidence of involvement in clinical audit.
* An understanding of clinical governance.
Management Essential
* Understanding of management issues including medical discipline, clinical governance, service planning.
