Job Title: Personal Assistant/Support Worker
Hours: 6 hours per week, usually worked on a weekend, but in school holidays the day will vary. The hours of work will vary and will be agreed mutually in advance.
Rate of Pay: £13.60 per hour

About the Job: We are seeking a personal assistant/support worker to support a young man with Autism, learning disabilities, sensory processes disorder and hypermobility syndrome in the Penrhyn Bay area. The hours are 6 per week. To assist with days out, planned activities and taking him on days out.
working in a non-smoking household. Duties will include accompanying the young man on days out at the zoo, farms, going to the cinema and generally having fun. Familiarity of communication tools such as Makaton and picture exchange cards desirable. Experience of working with young people with challenging behaviour is essential. You will be required to transport the young man to his activities, so access to a car with appropriate business insurance cover and full clean driving licence is required.

Responsible to: You will be directly responsible to your employer, the young man’s mother.
Main Tasks:
Help to stimulate and support active play and interaction, by taking the young man out on social visits, including but not limited to, trips to the zoo, farms, the cinema etc., promoting fun, activity, social inclusion and interaction
To support him with going to the toilet when required.
Provide one-to-one care and attention at all times, to keep the young man safe
Raise awareness of danger to the young man in his current surroundings
You have a duty to report defects and/or hazards which may give rise to an accident
Person Specification:
You will be required to transport the young man to his activities, so access to a car with appropriate business insurance cover and full clean driving licence is required
Undertake the role with due regard to the service user’s physical and psychological needs
Be familiar with communication tools, eg. some knowledge of use of Picture Exchange Cards
Have experience of working with young people with challenging behaviour
Be aware this role is within a non-smoking environment
Must have the right to work in the UK
Establish a professional standard of care, which should be maintained at all times

Be punctual, reliable and have some flexibility, with a view to possibly undertaking overtime
