Principal Education Lawyer Salary: £59,193 - £73,861 per annum ( £1,400 per annum management allowance) Location: South East Working: Hybrid (15-18 Month Fixed-Term Contract) About the Principal Education Lawyer Role: Sellick Partnership are proud to be working with an exceptional shared legal services team in the heart of the South East. We are looking for a Principal Education Lawyer to join a large alternative business structure operating on behalf of public Sector Clients including local government. The role is to specifically work as part of a team in the provision of a professional legal service to a range of public sector and not for profit clients regarding SEN and education, ensuring awareness of and compliance with legal duties within client organisations and protecting their best interests. Key Responsibilities of the Principal Education Lawyer role: To lead, direct, develop and improve the service to client organisations, predominately in the area of special educational needs to ensure the provision an excellent standard of client care and value for money To manage the activities of the team to include performance, caseloads and productivity, motivation and development, recruitment and selection and appraisals To manage a case load of complex cases, comprising mainly SEN Tribunal cases, with minimum supervision To undertake advocacy in case management hearings and final hearings in the first tier SEND Tribunal and to instruct counsel as appropriate To act as a point of contract on a variety of cases, to include taking instructions and giving advice, carrying out research, preparing applications, drafting documents and correspondence, commissioning and instructing expert witnesses, liaising with witnesses, attending meetings and providing advice and representation in courts or tribunals The role will be a hybrid working arrangement and you will have the opportunity to work from 1 of their offices in either Bedford or Cambridge one day per week.
