We provide respite and short stays for children up to the age of 18 years across 2 bungalows with up to 9 children staying at any one time. You will be working as part of a wider team supporting children to live their best lives in a fun and fulfilling environment. We are a 7 day service and you will be working a range of shifts including evenings, weekends and nights. We have the ability to be flexible to make sure this works for you. You will be required to complete a Level 3 Diploma in residential childcare. You will be fully supported to do this within work time. Main duties of the job In the absence of a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for leading a shift. You will be required to administer medication and carry out specific clinical interventions. This is a hands-on role, which involves supporting the children with personal care, carrying out moving and handling and supporting them to participate in a range of leisure activities. You will be required to undertake daily tasks such as making beds, washing bedding and clothing, preparing meals and assisting the children at mealtimes. You will need good verbal and written communication. The role involves regular communication with families, as well as other professionals such as social workers and school staff. It is essential that you have had experience of working with children with a learning disability. You will need to have basic IT skills in order to access various IT systems and assist with updating the childrens care files.
