This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a specialist school in Nottingham that supports students aged 7 to 16 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The school delivers a high-quality curriculum designed to help each student reach their academic potential while nurturing their social and emotional development.
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting children to overcome learning and developmental challenges. You will assist in helping students build the skills and character necessary to foster confidence, curiosity, creativity, and empathy.
Part time, term time only.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support all students in engaging with learning activities through effective strategies. This includes understanding each student’s needs, using appropriate resources and equipment, and adapting materials to ensure participation and progress.
* Provide support to individuals, small groups, or the entire class during teacher-planned activities, helping students access the curriculum, monitor progress, and address any challenges that arise.
* Assist the class teacher in planning, delivering, and evaluating teaching and learning activities.
* Contribute to managing student behavior by encouraging and promoting positive conduct.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
* Hold a Level 2 CACHE Diploma in Childcare and Education or an equivalent qualification
* Ideally possess GCSEs in English and mathematics, or be willing to work towards a fully funded equivalent qualification
* Have experience working with children and young people
* Demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting children with a wide range of individual and often complex needs
* Possess excellent communication and teamwork skills
