We are currently recruiting for Service Manager- Regeneration & Economic Development (Maternity Cover)
We’re looking for a visionary leader to head our Regeneration and Economic Development service. In this high-impact role, you’ll lead major regeneration projects, manage complex stakeholder negotiations, and drive sustainable economic growth across the borough.
You’ll be responsible for:
1. Delivering key regeneration programmes aligned with Council priorities
2. Leading multi-million pound projects with developers, investors, and government agencies
3. Creating an environment of awareness of financial objectives, commercial opportunities and value for money, seeking external funding where available
4. Managing budgets, teams, and partnerships with a focus on innovation, inclusion, and performance
Essential Requirements
Experience & Knowledge
Proven experience managing and delivering large-scale and complex regeneration programmes. Strong background in supervising, developing, and appraising staff, including handling complex HR matters. Experience in procuring complex contracts and managing high-value projects. Sound understanding of government programmes and issues affecting local government, particularly regeneration and economic development. Skilled in performance and risk management, resource planning, and financial oversight. Knowledge of customer care, equality, health & safety, and local authority procurement procedures. Experience working in multi-agency settings and engaging external stakeholders. Track record of preparing and presenting reports to senior leaders and elected members.
Skills & Abilities
Exceptional communication, leadership, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and decision-making ability, with a commercial mindset. Effective time management, prioritisation, and organisational skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines without compromising quality.
Qualifications
Educated to Master’s level (or equivalent) in a relevant field or a minimum of 5 years’ substantial experience in a similar senior role.

Self-motivated, responsible, and committed to high standards of customer service. Proactive in personal development and flexible to work outside normal hours when required. Team player with a strong sense of initiative and corporate contribution. Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
