The Quality Technologist is responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards in production operations. Acting as the main contact for quality-related matters, this role involves identifying and reporting deviations, tracking trends, and ensuring corrective actions are taken. The Quality Technologist will also participate in cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvements and best practices within the operation. Working closely with the Quality Assurance Manager, the position requires collaboration with production teams to integrate quality into daily operations. The role also involves maintaining strong relationships with both internal teams and customers to ensure that products meet or exceed expectations.
Key Accountabilities:
1. To review daily Quality information and attend operation meetings as the quality representative.
2. Complete daily reports accurately.
3. Incident management, including quick risk assessment of potential quality and/or food safety issues.
4. Ensure hold log is up to date and mass balances are conducted in a timely manner.
5. Active participation in the internal audit program, traceability exercises, and GFSI and Third Party audits.
6. Complete quality sign-offs as required and participate in site trials.
7. Maintain an up-to-date HACCP plan, supporting the site’s HACCP team leader.
8. Respond to customer queries and/or customer audit findings.
9. To drive Continuous Improvements in the site’s Quality Culture.
Person Profile:
1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (Food Science or related subject) or equivalent.
2. Previous experience in a factory-facing quality role.
3. Exposure to customer interface, either as a supplier to industry or retailers.
4. Knowledge of relevant Food Safety and Quality systems and their implementation such as HACCP and Root Cause Analysis.
5. Internal audit skills.
6. Strong organizational, planning, and decision-making abilities.
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
