About the role:
As our Part-Time Bookkeeper, you will be instrumental in managing our day-to-day accounting and financial operations. This pivotal role requires a robust understanding of financial record keeping and compliance with UK accounting standards. You will be expected to work no less than 20 hours per week Monday - Friday, initially, but this may increase due to business requirements.
Main duties and responsibilities will include:
* Maintain and update financial records, including ledgers, journals, and trial balances.
* Oversee the processing of vendor invoices and manage customer payments.
* Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts and credit card statements with company records.
* Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with UK tax regulations.
* Assist in the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
* Monitor employee expenses to ensure compliance with company policies.
* Ensure adherence to all relevant tax regulations, including income tax and National Insurance.
* Facilitate the auditing process by providing necessary financial documentation.
* Utilise accounting software effectively to manage financial transactions.
* Provide administrative support to the finance department and assist with ad-hoc financial tasks as needed.
About you:
You will need to have previous experience in bookkeeping, ideally within a UK-based business. Your qualifications should include AAT or equivalent. Be well-versed in accounting software and Microsoft Office, with a particular focus on Excel. A strong understanding of UK tax systems, along with excellent communication and organisational skills, is essential. You will be driven, proactive, and possess the ability to resolve discrepancies efficiently while maintaining confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information. You should be passionate about accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting.
