The Role and Candidate
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic project manager to join our Business Development Team as a Construction Project Manager, based in central London. We seek a hardworking and ambitious individual to manage construction projects for one of UK’s most iconic and fun designer toy brands, overseeing new store openings from the initial feasibility stage through to successful completion.
Responsibilities
* Conduct thorough bidding comparisons for various construction teams to evaluate and select the most suitable contractors and subcontractors, ensuring competitive pricing and high-quality standards
* Undertake and manage key stakeholder engagements with parties such as landlords, designers, contractors, engineers, and other corporate departments (such as HQ’s construction team and Group Finance)
* Coordinate and supervise all aspects of the feasibility, pre-construction, construction, and handover stages of new store projects
* Monitor and communicate project schedules to ensure timely delivery
* Work closely with the supply chain and contractors to ensure project delivery
* Obtain financial approval for project expenditures and manage within approved budgets
* Supervise and report any variances in project expenditures
* Undertake site inspections, site meetings, and defect identification inspections
* Assist in ensuring compliance with Pop Mart’s standards, policies, and specifications
Required Qualifications
* 5+ years of experience in construction management or a related field, with a focus on retail or commercial projects.
* Experience in leading project teams to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget
* Strong understanding of construction processes, design principles, and building codes
* Ability to quickly build and maintain excellent relationships and influence key decision-makers
* Ability to work to strict deadlines
* Ability to assimilate information quickly
* Confident to operate with a high degree of autonomy
* Excellent interpersonal skills, curious mindset, confident, independent, and logical problem solver
* Willingness to travel throughout the UK for onsite inspection
Desirable but Not Essential
* Multi-lingual language ability
* CAD software skills. Relevant certifications (e.g., PMP)
