We are currently looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer (Intermediate/Senior level, depending on experience) to join our Team to work on a range of projects.
This job vacancy is for our Head Office located in Kilkenny
**The ways of working commitment to this role are to work in the Kilkenny office initially for the first 6 months. Working from Home/Hybrid options available thereafter, depending on experience and agreement. **
Key Requirements
Minimum Level 7 Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering/Building Services Engineering or equivalent.
Ideally 5+ years' experience in design with an engineering consultancy.
Proven experience in mechanical engineering design in a design office.
Ability to lead & deliver projects in accordance with Building Regulations and Design Standards.
Ability to work within a team, and independently when required
Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, contributing to the overall success of projects.
Demonstrated experience in a client facing role.
Strong communication & presenting skills.
Upholds ethics and company values, demonstrate integrity as a person who is trusted by others and consistently honours their commitments.
Proven knowledge on mechanical system designs, including Soils & Waste, Plumbing, Ventilation & Airconditioning, Space Cooling, Space Heating, Building Automation and Environmental Designs in accordance with Irish Regulations.
Experience working within ISO standards and project specific scopes.
Proficient and competent in design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, magicad, 3D energy modelling such as IES (preferred but not required) or similar
Proficient and competent in Microsoft office packages
Proficient Knowledge & experience of current Design Guides, Building Regulations (including BCAR process) EN Standards.
Full Clean European Drivers Licence (or in the process of getting a Full European Drivers Licence)

Key Responsibilities
Design of Mechanical Services installations for Buildings typical in the Educational, Healthcare, Residential, Commercial & Retail Sectors, including but not limited to HVAC, Water Services, Soils & Wastes, Gas, Building Automation Control Systems to current regulations and design standards.
Demonstrate a strong technical ability in all aspects of Mechanical / Building Services Engineering & Design.
Create detailed mechanical design layouts, schematics, and calculations, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project goals.
Independently address design and technical challenges within projects to achieve the best engineering solutions.
Work directly with clients and project engineers to define project requirements and develop & Design technical solutions.
Develop and agree design processes and design deliverables.
Produce accurate Budget estimates for projects, assess Contractor progress claims & variations.
Maintain project documentation in accordance with ISO standards, ensuring up to date records for mechanical designs.
Engage in QA audits, peer reviews and technical workshops, promoting continuous improvement in mechanical solutions.
Stay informed on Building Services and Environmental Sustainability design trends by attending relevant seminars, CPDs, and exhibitions.
Conduct site inspections and prepare reports related to mechanical systems, sourcing budget information and providing data to project teams.
Review mechanical service submittals, ensuring compliance with project objectives and approved designs.
Monitor project timelines to ensure mechanical designs are delivered on schedule and within budget. Remain aware of project and construction schedules, ensuring mechanical designs are delivered on time and within budget.
Lead projects from on a design perspective, including, answering Technical Queries, design development, services coordination, review of technical submittals, manage & co-ordinate timely delivery of Design changes, drawing updates etc during the project.
Ability to lead and mentor Junior and Intermediate engineers where relevant, depending on experience.
Assist with tender bids including technical writing report, and preparing budget estimates
Reporting to Associate Director / Director on the performance of projects
