We're seeking an experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer in our Bristol Office who has ambitions to grow alongside the Bristol Ground Engineering team into a more senior position and line manage junior staff members who may be brought into the team in the future. The right candidate will be a design-focused engineer who will bring not only deep technical expertise but also an innovative mindset.
Job Duties Include:
1. Deliver: Lead and manage geotechnical projects from investigation through to design and construction ensuring high quality deliverables.
2. Innovate: Apply cutting-edge approaches in geotechnical design and construction including foundation design, retaining wall design, and ground improvement.
3. Lead: Work with a high degree of independence, support and develop junior team members, engage with internal and external clients, and lead project inputs from desk study/feasibility through ground investigation and interpretation to final design.
Qualifications
What we’re looking for:
1. Degree (BEng or MEng) in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
2. Chartered status (Engineer).
3. Ability to collaborate closely with our Technical Directors and Associates in project delivery, work winning and maintaining high levels of client satisfaction.
4. Lead Geotechnical discipline to projects, actively input to team and client meetings, being prepared to own decisions and put forward alternative ideas and concepts.
5. Provide on-the-job mentoring and line management of junior staff and support them towards achieving chartered status.
6. Prepare, check, and review a wide range of technical documents, including designs, specifications, construction drawings, desk studies, interpretative reports, and design reports.
7. Prepare fee bids and proposals for internal and external clients.
8. Demonstrable understanding of current design codes, standards, and best practices in geotechnical design.
9. Proven leadership experience in similar roles, with an ability to inspire and lead teams.
10. Willingness to travel throughout the UK.
11. Driving licence.
