SEND Teaching Assistant
Forever Teaching is proud to be supporting a welcoming and community-driven SEND School in Salford. We are looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team in a long-term, full-time role, providing tailored support to pupils with Autism, ADHD, Social and Emotional Mental Health Needs, and Behavioural Challenges.
The SEND Teaching Assistant Role
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will:
1. Provide 1:1 and group support to students with complex needs, ensuring their learning and well-being are prioritised.
2. Work closely with the class teacher to implement individualised education plans (IEPs).
3. Assist in delivering engaging and differentiated activities suited to pupils' needs and abilities.
4. Use strategies to support communication, such as Makaton, PECs, or similar methods (training provided if needed).
5. Help create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment to foster pupils' social, emotional, and academic development.
6. Provide support during break times and transitions to ensure students feel safe and supported throughout the day.
SEND Teaching Assistant Requirements
We are looking for someone who:
1. Has experience working with children or young people with SEND, particularly those with complex needs.
2. Is empathetic, patient, and passionate about supporting students to overcome barriers to learning.
3. Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Is proactive, adaptable, and works well as part of a team.
5. Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning) are desirable but not essential.
