Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Our client is a well-established engineering company that is renowned for manufacturing advanced equipment used within the defence sector. We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to be responsible for coordinating production engineering processes from the final design phase to full production release.
Responsibilities include:
1. Reporting to the Operations Manager, liaising with the company’s Engineering and Project Teams, Production, and supply chain.
2. Ensuring the successful transition for new and existing product designs to achieve projects on time, to quality and budget.
3. Operating in a Line Support role for existing product lines to ensure programs are achieved on time, to quality and budget.
4. Managing the standards, methods, and procedures for the design, modification, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment (Jigs / Fixtures / Tooling) and processes.
5. Developing and delivering production plans, build documentation, and route cards for a variety of engineering projects from final design into series production.
6. Coordinating cross-functional departmental activities to resolve manufacturing issues during day-to-day operations.
7. Developing best practices to improve production capacity, quality, and reliability.
8. Supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and Design for Manufacture (DFM) activities.
9. Managing production engineering tasks associated with Transfer of Technology (ToT) projects.
10. Undertaking customer and supplier visits by car when necessary. A full current driving license is required.
11. Developing operating instructions and equipment specifications for production activities.
Qualifications:
1. Ideally degree educated in an engineering-related discipline or with a recognised engineering apprenticeship within an electro-optical manufacturing environment.
2. Demonstrates a good level of understanding and application of process engineering principles, concepts, practices, and standards.
3. Ability to react swiftly to changes in production demands and implement effective and timely solutions.
4. Ability to plan, prioritise, and effectively manage time, meet deadlines, and produce quality deliverables.
5. Ability to read engineering drawings.
Offering up to £40,000 plus a competitive benefits package including medical insurance, profit share scheme, and a 9 day working fortnight.
