Pastoral Support Officer - Secondary School, Newham, London

We are collaborating with an innovative secondary school in Newham to recruit a passionate Pastoral Support Officer to join their dedicated pastoral team. In this role, you will work closely with the Head of Year and other team members to provide bespoke support to students facing SEMH and behavioural challenges. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young people's lives by fostering a positive and nurturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Head of Year and pastoral team to implement effective behaviour and well-being strategies
- Provide one-to-one and group mentoring for students dealing with emotional, social, or behavioural challenges
- Build positive, trust-based relationships with students, acting as a role model and mentor
- Support behaviour management and assist teachers in maintaining a positive classroom environment
- Monitor student attendance and punctuality, taking appropriate action when needed
- Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for students

Requirements
- Experience working with students with SEMH or behavioural challenges, preferably in an educational setting
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build meaningful relationships with students and staff
- A proactive and compassionate approach to mentoring and supporting young people
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team
- Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and safeguarding protocols
Additional Details
- Full-time position, Monday to Friday
- Competitive pay of £110-£125 per day (term-time only)
