Dorset Healthcare are looking for enthusiastic, flexible and driven individuals to provide an outstanding service as an experienced Medical Secretary within our administrative team at Christchurch & Southbourne Community Mental Health Team.
You will be fully supported by an experienced and progressive Admin Team Leader, provided with all the training and tools you need to succeed in this role. Regular supervision, yearly appraisals, and opportunities for creativity and improvement will be available.

You will need to be flexible to manage the workload of this busy Community Mental Health Team. We ensure that our Trust's values are incorporated in everything we do, providing a patient-centered approach with recovery and wellbeing at the forefront of our care.
The working hours are: 09:00 until 17:00 Monday to Friday with a half hour for lunch.
Main duties of the job
You will be required to provide efficient secretarial, administrative, and reception support for the team.
To liaise with members of the public and a variety of professionals in both primary and secondary care services. Given the nature of this service, some patients may contact us in distress; we are looking for resilient applicants, but you will be provided with training and skills to manage this. With a compassionate work ethos, you will thrive with the right level of support from the administrative Team Leader.
You will have a solid administrative background or be an experienced secretary, capable of multi-tasking and managing your time effectively.
You will need an understanding of Office 365 including Outlook, Word, and Excel, possess an outstanding telephone manner, and be able to deal with difficult patients through excellent communication skills.
You will be organized, able to motivate yourself and your colleagues, work to deadlines, and complete tasks with the highest level of accuracy and attention to detail.
You will be responsible for keeping RIO, the Trust's patient record system, up to date, following data protection and GDPR legislation.
You will provide secretarial support to the team's Consultants through the completion of clinical correspondence and dictation, onward referral management, and attending various meetings as a minute taker.
You must have an intermediate level of audio typing skills.

Person Specification
Knowledge, Skills and Training
* Min 5 GCSE's or equivalent including English
* RSA Level 2 or equivalent
* NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration or ICT
* ECDL Qualification or similar
Additional Requirements
* Demonstrable skills in written and spoken English to a standard which enables the post holder to carry out the full range of duties and responsibilities of the role effectively.
Job Specific Experience
* Previous experience within a comparable role
* Previous experience of working within a customer-focused environment
* Previous experience of audio typing software
* Previous experience of working in a similar role within the NHS
* Previous experience of using RIO and other NHS systems such as Winscribe
* Standard or Advanced IT skills, normally obtained through practice or practical training
* Demonstrable experience of using a range of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and/or presentation software to RSA 3 or equivalent standard
