Tax technology is the use of software, data and analytics to automate and streamline tax processes, such as calculating, reporting and filing taxes. Tax technology can help organisations to ensure they comply with the tax laws and regulations in different jurisdictions, as well as to improve the accuracy and efficiency of their tax operations. Our tax technology team works with various tax specialisms, such as indirect tax (e.g., VAT), corporate tax, personal tax and employer tax. These are different types of taxes that businesses and individuals must deal with. We help organisations to implement and optimise tax technology solutions that can handle the complexity and volume of tax data, as well as to adapt to the changing tax landscape. We also use data analytics to analyse tax data after any tax has been calculated to help flag potential errors and identify opportunities for improvement. Tax digitalisation is a global trend that is transforming the way tax authorities collect and use tax information. In the UK, HMRC’s flagship initiative called “Making Tax Digital” aims to make tax administration more effective, efficient and easier for taxpayers. This initiative will affect various tax domains in the next 5-10 years, requiring businesses and individuals to report more transactional data and to ensure the quality of their tax data. Our tax technology team can help businesses and individuals to prepare for this transition and to leverage the benefits of tax digitalisation, such as increased transparency, reduced risk and enhanced decision making. What can you expect? RSM’s early digital careers programme offers a range of informal and formal development opportunities. From day one, you will join with trainees across the firm to receive core training in professional and soft skills. Alongside this you will benefit from specific technology skills training focussed on our digital and data services, for example Agile project delivery, as well as learning how to use our core tools, including Alteryx and Power BI. We will also support professional qualifications for Tax and digital skills. Following your basic enablement, you’ll join colleagues in delivering live client engagements. No two journeys will be the same, as each client experience is different, but you’ll have the opportunity to learn from experienced members of the team and understand how digital and data projects are delivered. This hands-on experience is invaluable as you take the next steps in your career.
