Lead Engineer (Electronics/Embedded software)
Location - Chelmsford (5 days onsite)
One of your reputable clients is looking for a Lead Engineer for an exciting test camera project. You will be responsible for leading the plan, execution, and delivery of the Space Imaging's Test Camera platforms, in accordance with the project delivery lifecycle. The Test Camera platforms are used for operating and testing our current and next-generation Imaging Sensors. The role requires a multidisciplinary engineer to oversee the various functional engineering teams' inputs into the test camera design and manufacture, while also utilizing project management skills to deliver the work packages.
The role:
1. Lead the delivery of our internally designed test camera platforms on time, on cost, and on quality with regular communication of status against plan and any escalations for support required.
2. Coordinate with cross-functional teams of engineers and utilize project management techniques to deliver the work packages for the project.
3. Provide Engineering governance through the project life cycle.
4. Ownership, maintenance & delivery of the Engineering Management Plan for the delivery of the internal test camera equipment, in accordance with the lifecycle management approach.
5. Responsible for the management of the requirements, including maintaining the compliance and verification matrix (CVM) to the requirements. Ensuring the scope of the project is clearly understood, documented, and managed.
6. Manage the technical risk/opportunities on the test camera delivery project and their mitigation/capture activities.
7. Ensure configuration control is followed for the technical aspects of the test camera.
8. Detailed scheduling of projects in Microsoft Project and publishing into the MS Project Server system.
9. Management of the budget.
10. Lead the procurement of parts.
Skills & Experience Essential Qualifications:
The ideal candidate shall be able to demonstrate the following qualifications and experience:
1. Understanding of system design, development, manufacture, and verification, and project delivery lifecycle management.
2. Broad knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines, e.g., mechanical, thermal, electrical.
3. Demonstrated time management skills.
4. Ability to work well in a team and under pressure.
5. Ability to learn quickly.
6. Good communication skills.
7. Experience of relevant manufacturing techniques, setting requirements, qualification, verification, and test.
8. Knowledge of test system development and analysis techniques.
9. Project risk management and problem solving.
