Job Opportunity: Clerk of Works
Freedom Professional Services has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Clerk of Works with strong technical knowledge in a broad range of civil engineering disciplines to join our growing electricity transmission and distribution civil design team. You’ll be asked to carry out the Clerk of Works duties at electricity substations across Yorkshire and the North East of England from commencement to completion and be able to work in close collaboration with other internal teams (civil design, structural engineering, electrical design, surveys, wayleaves, cables, environmental), along with contractors, clients, and stakeholders to ensure that all requirements are met.
Key Responsibilities:
* Ensure that all civil construction work is carried out by contractors in accordance with the standards, policies, and procedures of Freedom and its customers.
* Assist design engineers in the design/management of civil engineering elements of projects.
* Use site surveys, existing plans, drawings, codes of practice, technical specifications, and technical knowledge to manage civil engineering contractors during the construction phase of projects.
* Assist in the preparation and/or review of overall site construction programmes, working with the contractor, designer, and project manager.
* Conduct Quality, H&S, and Environmental Audits as required by Freedom and the client and prepare weekly/monthly reports as required.
* Consult with the client and work collaboratively with internal design teams to ensure the effective delivery of projects, providing updates on progress on site as well as identifying issues that could risk programme, quality, or cost.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Experience of working as a Clerk of Works in a civil environment for the construction of traditional masonry buildings, steel portal frames, and reinforced concrete foundations and structures.
* Sound knowledge of the CDM Regulations.
* Ability to assist in the delivery of multiple simultaneous technical projects in a challenging environment.
* Effective communication skills to engage in technical discussions with contractors, colleagues, non-technical staff, and clients.
* Technical qualification in Civil Engineering or a relevant qualification in Building Construction and working towards registration with the Institution of Clerk of Works.
* Full UK driving licence.
* Registration with the CSCS in a relevant discipline.
