Job Title: Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Reading, UK
Salary: £45,000 - £60,000
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be an expert in Autodesk CAD and possess in-depth, demonstrable experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM), particularly in the fields of injection moulded plastics and folded metal parts. Experience in the electronics manufacturing space is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead the mechanical design process using Autodesk (or similar) CAD software, ensuring high-quality and manufacturable designs.
2. Apply DFM principles to optimize designs for injection molded plastics and folded metal parts.
3. Collaborate with the electronics engineering team to integrate mechanical and electronic components seamlessly.
4. Work within an agile, fast-moving team environment, contributing to iterative design and development processes.
5. Utilize 3D printing and prototyping techniques to create and test design concepts.
6. Oversee the build processes for prototypes, ensuring they meet design specifications and functional requirements.
7. Continuously improve design processes and methodologies to enhance product quality and manufacturability.
Qualifications:
1. Expert proficiency in CAD software.
2. Extensive experience in DFM, with a focus on injection molded plastics and folded metal parts.
3. Proven track record in the electronics manufacturing space.
4. Strong understanding of 3D printing and prototyping, including build processes.
5. Ability to thrive in an agile, fast-paced team environment.
6. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
7. Understand standards documentation and deliver designed solutions to suit.
