Buyer – Doncaster – Up to £50k DOE plus 10% company performance bonus
Buyer, Overview:
Working Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm in the office as a vital part of a supply chain team within a successful and ever-expanding FMCG business.
Duties of the Buyer include:
1. Sourcing and resourcing of new and existing products and services from suppliers worldwide including the Far East.
2. Oversee the tender process, including sourcing, evaluating, and negotiating.
3. Working closely with the Supply Chain Manager to resolve any supply chain issues and maintain availability.
4. Continuously evaluate and improve procurement practices, including identifying cost-saving opportunities and process enhancements.
5. Maintaining/gaining product accreditations, certifications, and compliance with regulations/laws.
6. Implement sustainable and socially responsible strategic sourcing practices, including supporting local suppliers and ethical sourcing.
7. Manage supplier relationships, including regular communication, performance evaluation, and issue resolution, visiting sites whenever necessary.
8. Own the profitability and growth of your categories, collaborating with sales and operations to understand their requirements and develop procurement plans.
As well as proven purchasing experience, enthusiasm, drive, and a can-do attitude, the successful Buyer will have:
1. Strong negotiation skills with a focus on cost optimization and budgeting.
2. Experience in buying FMCG from the Far East.
3. Expertise in supplier and product compliance management.
4. Understanding of Environmental and Social Governance (ESG) practices.
5. Excellent IT literacy (Sage experience desirable).
6. A full UK driving license and ability to travel worldwide (average 3 times per year).
