Our client is seeking a Reporting Accountant to join their team in Birmingham. This role involves identifying issues, needs, and opportunities for improvement, supporting changes, and acting as a liaison between various business areas to ensure smooth transitions.
The ideal candidate will have experience with variance analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and a background in the manufacturing/distribution sector.
Your responsibilities as the Reporting Accountant will include:
1. Prepare monthly reports from the trial balance (Income Statement, Balance Sheet)
2. Analyse order intake trends
3. Conduct sales and margin analysis
4. Perform variance analysis (Sales, Expenses, vs. Prior Year, Budget) and discuss with cost centre holders
5. Analyse stock (Obsolete, WIP)
6. Provide month-end stock reports to Finance, including stock adjustment analysis per Group and Statutory guidelines
7. Support and cover for the Finance Manager and Assistant Accountant as needed
8. Assist with external audits (Financial, Quality, Customer)
9. Help managers and employees retrieve and understand available information and provide additional requested details
10. Continuously cleanse data
11. Support business forecasting and budget variance analysis
12. Identify and investigate areas for improving profitability
The successful Reporting Accountant will require the following skills and experience:
13. Experience with variance analysis and balance sheet reconciliations is required
14. Proficiency in MS Excel is essential for analysis tasks
15. Experience in a manufacturing/distribution environment is necessary
16. A higher education qualification in Business or Accounting is preferred
17. SAP knowledge is a plus
