Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Commercial Manager to oversee and enhance financial and contractual aspects of our construction projects. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in developing strategies that drive profitability and ensure effective cost control across various projects. This position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.
Duties
Financial Management
* Develop and manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial reports.
* Monitor project costs and identify opportunities for cost savings.
* Ensure financial targets and margins are met across all projects.
Contract Management
* Negotiate and manage contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
* Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and relevant legislation.
* Resolve disputes and contractual issues in a timely and effective manner.
Tendering and Procurement
* Lead the preparation of tenders and pricing strategies.
* Evaluate supplier and subcontractor bids to ensure value for money and quality standards.
* Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers and partners.
Risk Management
* Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks.
* Develop risk management strategies to safeguard project success.
Leadership and Team Management
* Lead, mentor, and develop a team of quality surveyors and other commercial staff.
* Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and professional growth.
Client Relations
* Act as a main point of contact for clients on commercial matters.
* Ensure client satisfaction and maintain long-term relationships.
Requirements
* Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or in a similar role within a relevant industry.
* Strong understanding of financial principles, including cost control measures.
* Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to analyse data and make informed decisions based on market insights.
* Strong knowledge of construction contracts (e.g. NEC, JCT) and relevant legal frameworks.
* Strong leadership qualities with experience in managing teams effectively.
* A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
