We are looking for a Social Media Editor to generate engaging social content for The Mirror and OK.co.uk. This is a fantastic opportunity to drive web traffic, maximise engagement and increase brand awareness for some of the most iconic news titles in the UK.

This role is home and hub based linked to our London Hub. We are therefore open to candidates based in and around London.
This is a maternity cover fixed term contract role, initially for 12 months.
Job Description
What will the role involve?
Focussing primarily on Mirror content, you will find the latest trending stories using your keen news sense and analytics to optimise and publish engaging news stories via each brand’s social platforms. You will create and edit eye catching graphics and headlines while coming up with new and creative ways to drive traffic to our sites and grow our audiences.
You will forward plan social media content and coverage, covering live events and breaking news on social media while monitoring the external landscape to identify trends. You will communicate your findings while sharing knowledge and best practice across our newsrooms. This role will involve working varying shifts on a rota basis including some weekends and evenings, so a flexible approach is required.
Qualifications
Who are we looking for?
You are an experienced journalist with your NCTJ or equivalent qualification and up to date UK media law knowledge. You are a social media expert and excellent communicator who is able to spot which stories will trend across social platforms and the ability to cherry pick articles to optimise and post, engaging our audiences. You have an excellent understanding of Mirror and OK! audiences and can create content that resonates with them.
You have demonstrable experience working in a similar role within a fast-paced digital newsroom or magazine environment. You have an excellent working knowledge and demonstrable experience utilising Facebook, TikTok, Threads, Instagram, X and other social media platforms. You stay up to date with the latest news and can review, rewrite and post content at pace.
