Axcis is working with a fantastic special school specialising in supporting children with Autism. The school caters to children aged 4 to 16 years, tailoring their provision to each individual’s needs. The school requires a teaching assistant to work with children on a 1:1 and small group basis.
The perfect teaching assistant will need to have a very high level of resilience and dedication, as consistency is key for all children; however, this is 10x as important for individuals with SEND needs. This is a full-time role with the potential for a permanent position with the school, working on a small group and 1:1 basis.
Being able to work independently and as part of a team is key, to be able to take direction from the teacher and implement planning accurately and effectively. The school is open to candidates with a background in care or support work, as well as those with experience within school environments who will foster their values of "team work, equality, happiness, confidence and kindness". Experience in supporting individuals with severe Autism is essential.
This Autism specific school is based within the Walsall area. While car parking can be limited, the school has great public transport links, perfect for individuals looking to do their bit for the environment. You will be following the planning of the class teacher, ensuring to give feedback on all lessons and sessions.
Whilst this will be a challenging role, the reward from seeing this individual engage and participate will be phenomenal. It really is an amazing opportunity to make a massive impact on the life and learning of children and young people with SEND needs.
