General Information: Adjunct faculty teaching is limited to a maximum of 8 credit hours in the summer semester, 12 credit hours in the fall semester, and 12 credit hours in the spring semester. These limits are for total number of credit hours taught in the Virginia’s Community Colleges (VCCS). Additional restrictions may apply depending upon other positions occupied within VCCS.
Responsibilities: The Division of Engineering, Business, and Public Services at Brightpoint Community College augments full-time teaching faculty with qualified part-time instructors to enhance the student learning process. Teach all aspects of occupational health and safety and its application in the workplace. Teach safety standards and the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), its rules and regulations (OSHA 10). This course will have two sections meeting on Thursday mornings during the fall semester.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required: Five years of general industry safety experience. A college degree in occupational safety and health, a Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation may be substituted for two years of experience. Candidates with OSHA Trainer certification. (OSHA 500) will also be considered. Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communications skills.
