Job summary
To undertake all duties associated with assisting to deliver the provision of a modern diagnostic imaging and medical photography service, providing high standards of patient care at all times.
To work within the operational hours of the departments as necessary.
Receive patients on arrival in the department.
Undertake reception duties including patient identity checks as per trust policy.
Be fully conversant with all aspects of the Radiology Information System (CRIS).
Register patient attendance onto the CRIS system.
Ensure relevant pre procedure and safety checklists are complete and have an understanding of the importance of the questions. Take appropriate action where necessary.
Deal with enquiries from patients and staff by telephone and in person.
To assist radiographic staff with daily workload and planning including contacting wards to arrange transport (using the Capacity Management module) and preparation for inpatients attending the department.
Assist the patient prior to, during and post examination as required.
To assist the medical photography team with all teledermatology examinations.
Main duties of the job
To prepare the clinical area for examinations/daily workload.
To set up/prepare for procedures as required and ensuring ANTT is used where necessary.
To maintain adequate stock levels within the clinical area.
To assist radiographic, medical photography and medical staff in the preparation of patients, equipment, safe manual handling and positioning of patients including cannulation where necessary.
To provide a high standard of patient care, comfort and reassurance in order to comply with trust policies and departmental protocols.
To maintain a clean and safe working environment for each examination.
Monitor patients post procedure or imaging examination and alert the appropriate Practitioner or Consultant Radiologist of any problems.

Job responsibilities
To undertake all duties associated with assisting to deliver the provision of a modern diagnostic imaging and medical photography service, providing high standards of patient care at all times.
Monitor patients undergoing interventional/contrast studies before, during and after the procedure.
To work in a controlled area (exposure to radiation) and ensure that the use of any necessary radiation safety measures are in place for self, colleagues and patients.
To ensure the patient and examination rooms are clean and free from bodily fluids following the examination and provide appropriate aftercare as required.
To work in-line with all trust policies and procedures.
To adhere to manual handling and health and safety policies to ensure all reasonable precautions are taken for managing own workplace and the safety of others.
To undertake any reasonable duty as requested by supervisor, line manager and the Radiology Service Manager.
Demonstrate a high level of team working and autonomous practice, within specific guidelines, relevant to the different working areas.
To ensure the patient is aware how and where to obtain results and follow up appointments.
To take control of stock and order consumables.
Person Specification
QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING
Essential
1. NVQ level 3 or equivalent experience
2. GCSE English and Mathematics grade 9-2 (A*-E) or equivalent

3. ANTT training
4. IV Cannulation

5. Evidence that you have the ability to work as part of a team
