My client has a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Project Engineer to join their team based at their Cleveland office working on education and health projects. My client is a leading Tier 1 main contractor who delivers projects across a range of sectors including health, education, highways, justice, defence, aviation, water, and environment.
Reporting into the Project Director, my client is looking for someone who can lead and manage a project team, ensuring they are fully resourced and delivering safely on time and within budget to high-quality client specifications. The project includes a Medical Centre, GP’s facility, Dental Centre, Primary Community Rehab Facility, Occupational Health, and Community Mental Health centre.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage all Engineering Services activities in line with the company IPCD.
* Ensure the safe and efficient execution of the project in line with company IPCD.
* Manage resources on the project on a day-to-day basis and report any staff issues as appropriate.
* Manage project commercial issues and cost reporting (WIP).
* Identify clients' requirements and ensure we deliver these to their satisfaction.
* Represent the company on any internal or external issues.
* Prepare detailed plans and procedures to administer the project and ensure the project team is familiar with and follows these guidelines.
* Ensure timely project reporting is provided upstream and downstream.
* Regularly audit the project to ensure compliance.
* Communicate regularly with the project team on project-specific matters and company initiatives.
* Manage project cash flow to remain positive throughout the project's life.
* Manage procurement to achieve best value for Engineering Services.
* Identify all risks and manage actions and implementation to mitigate such risks.
Experience and Qualifications
* Mechanical Bias Project Engineer.
* Experience managing a project team to reach completion within budget and to programme.
* Experience in programme production and management.
* Ability to interpret the requirements of the specification.
* Experience resolving technical queries during the contract.
* Experience managing procurement, labour, and sub-contractors.
* Experience assisting in managing variation accounts.
* Experience assisting in preparing monthly applications.
* Experience in construction management and liaising with the supervision team.
* Experience in site operations – installation and commissioning.
* Ability to maintain good working relationships with clients and professional teams.
* Experience in stakeholder engagement and management.
* Experience controlling contract costs and variations.
* Experience in value engineering projects to create cost savings.
* Experience coordinating M&E Services installations.
* Knowledge of health and safety requirements during the contract including compiling method statements and risk assessments.
* Experience in compiling and presenting Operating & Maintenance Manuals.
* Experience with contract values ranging from £2m and above.
* Healthcare experience preferred.
* Degree: BEng (Hons) Building Services Engineering – preferable.
* BTEC HND Building Services – preferable.
* BTEC: HNC Building Services – essential.
* BTEC: ONC Building Services – essential.
* IOSH directing safely - preferable.
* CSCS card – essential.
* SMSTS course – preferable.
* Computer Skills - MS Word, PowerPoint, Project, Excel.
