Role
We have a great opportunity for an industrial machinist to join an equine company on the outskirts of Canterbury.
In the role you will work as a sewing machinist in the production team. The primary focus will be leather stitching, but the role will include working with soft materials - cotton and 3 D spacer fabrics too.
Duties and responsibilities
You will be working with leather for an expanding saddle manufacturer based close to South Canterbury. The business is in a rural location, so transport is required.
In the role you will working with leather, foam and glues to shape and prepare all component parts which requires patience and an eye for detail. You will need to have a careful and pedantic attitude about the quality of your work, and enjoy working as part of a team whilst also being responsible for your own work.
Skills and experience
Must have experience on a Sewing machine, although not necessarily with leather as more advance skills can be taught.
Ideally you will be capable of machining accurately to patterns and within tight tolerances.

The process: If successful after interview you will be invited to spend a few hours with the company. This is to see if the company live up to your expectations, that the location is viable (must have own transport) and that you fit in with the company culture.
Hours: Monday to Thursday - 40 hours a week. The company now work a 40 hour week over 4 days instead of 5. These hours can be worked between the hours of 7am and 7pm (your choice)
Paid Holiday: 21 days plus bank holidays
