Sound good? We’re looking for several Operational Specialist Team Managers – Field Automation Specialists (FAS) to join the team.
What you'll be doing
1. You’ll build a Field Automation Technical Service that provides proactive and reactive FAS support for field teams throughout Scotland whilst ensuring Scottish Water’s operational assets are reliable and resilient.

3. You’ll set up simple, effective ways for teams to share ideas and feedback so we’re always refining how we work to deliver even better results.
4. When something goes wrong, you’ll get to the root of the problem and make sure it doesn’t happen again.
5. You’ll carry out deep dives after incidents and investigate alternative resolutions for repeat failures, strengthening our asset resilience and reducing downtime.
6. You’ll be setting the technical standards for FAS and working with the MEICA Academy to make those standards stick.
7. You’ll lead our FAS strategy for maintaining legacy equipment, driving innovation and embracing new technology.
What you'll need
1. You know field automation like the back of your hand – SCADA, PLCs, Distributed Control Systems, telemetry, instrumentation.
2. With an HNC (or equivalent) in Electrical, Mechanical or Automation Engineering.
3. You’re a problem solver through and through, able to tackle complex challenges with creative thinking.
4. You’re a natural communicator and skilled influencer, able to engage with frontline teams and stakeholders effectively.
5. You’re comfortable using IT tools like Office 365.
6. A full driving licence is a must as you’ll be traveling throughout Scotland.
Looking out for you
This is a full time (35 hours per week) role, Monday to Friday. You’ll get 38 days of holiday every year (including public holidays) and can buy five more if needed. You can also take paid time off to volunteer.
We have family-friendly policies around adoption, maternity, and parental leave, and we embrace flexible working.
For your future, there’s a pension plan and life assurance, along with an annual company bonus and access to SW Splash for rewards.
The not-so-small print
This role will be a Grade 8 with a starting salary of £48,900, with performance-driven pay progression up to £68,510.
