The Primary Care Division, within Public Health Wales, are looking for a skilled, experienced, and motivated public health specialist, to support the division in strengthening the public health approach to primary and community care. The post holder will lead the delivery of a priority health area or topic within the primary care domain at an all Wales level. Working closely with partners and colleagues to bring a rigorous data-driven and evidence-based approach to primary and community care. Ensuring that primary and community care programmes and activity are based on sound public health principles and are co-produced with key partners. Partners include the national Strategic Programme for Primary Care (SPPC), Welsh Government, other central and local public health teams, primary care professionals, primary care clusters, professional collaboratives and colleagues in health boards or other organisations who support them directly. This partnership approach will require excellent communication skills and an understanding of primary and community care as a setting for public health action. The Main Duties Will Include Leading the development and implementation of the ‘public health approach to primary and community care in 2035’ programme of work. Ensuring the work is based on sound public health principles including being data and evidence informed, focused on prevention, early intervention and reducing health inequalities. Working across the Division, across Public Health Wales and with strategic partners including the Welsh Government, SPPC, Health Boards and Primary and Community care colleagues to co-produce the programme of work. Further areas of work will be agreed to reflect requirements and the skills, interests and knowledge of the successful candidate, on appointment.
