The Advanced Production Systems (APS) Team are looking for a Senior Research Engineer – Systems Engineering to join them, based in Coventry.
Main Responsibilities
1. Systems Engineering Process Development & Quality improvements.
2. Leading Systems Engineering activities on multiple challenging projects.
3. Providing guidance and support to colleagues on the systems engineering aspects of their project role.
4. Supporting customers in the completion of their systems engineering tasks.
5. Providing technical governance, including nurturing earlier-career stage engineers in their technical development.
6. Supporting Senior Managers with a proactive approach in the identification, technical specification, and delivery of new and novel technology capability into the MTC, its customers, or industrial members' premises.
Person Specification
Essential Skills/Qualifications/Experience
1. A track record of both verbal and written technical communication, tailoring communication style for different audiences (for example across different areas of the business).
2. Experience with partner and supplier liaison – for example with customers & partners, including collaborating directly with customers during project delivery, acting as a technical liaison.
3. Demonstrable use of coaching and mentoring to support colleagues and transfer knowledge in area of expertise to others within own department and wider MTC colleagues.
4. Creative problem-solving abilities, with an analytical approach to implementation.
Desirable Skills/Qualifications/Experience
1. Experience of applying Systems Engineering approaches, including all phases of the system development lifecycle, in a product development, design, industrialisation of technologies and/or manufacturing environment, particularly on Defence or Aerospace projects.
2. Experience of defining and leading Systems Engineering activities on large-scale complex projects, for example, systems with bespoke control schemes, novel technologies, complex interfaces, multiple suppliers and/or partners, safety critical systems.
3. Familiar with FMEAs, robust engineering practices and supporting techniques.
