Job summary An exciting opportunity has become available for a Band 5 Paediatric Nurse to join our Paediatric Emergency Department, for either a 12 month fixed term or secondment. The post holder is expected to work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team planning and providing high quality care for children and young people with acute illness or injury within the Emergency Department Main duties of the job Working in the Paediatric Emergency department alongside other members of the team. Main duties will involve the holistic care of children and their carers attending the Emergency department including: Responsibility for assessing nursing needs and plan and implement care required by patients, in conjunction with nursing observations & patient assessment, medical requirement and with the co-operation and partnership of the patient and their relatives. Carry out treatments on minor injuries including dressings, wound closure, applying plaster of Paris and splints. Transfers of patients in wheelchairs and trolleys in and around the department and hospital. Be able to plan own workload in a busy, noisy environment where there are frequent interruptions and unpredictable changes in demand.Maintain accurate nursing notes in line with the NMC guidelines and trust policy.
