Ceredigion County Council Occupational Therapy Service:
This is a return to qualified Occupational Therapy practice friendly role. See below for further information.
We are a team that feels passionately about using Occupational Therapy to help people live more meaningful lives. Following a recent review of the Occupational Therapy services within Ceredigion County Council, a new service structure has been developed. Both community adult and Paediatric services now work under the same management structure within Ceredigion’s through age well-being model.
This Occupational Therapy Assistant role sits under the community Adult team.
We’re passionate about the high-quality, person-centred service we provide to the people of Ceredigion and the unique perspective our profession brings to the wider organisation. We believe that at every life stage people are entitled to reach their full potential. As a team we’re proud of our supportive culture and seek to share our strengths, professional skills, and broad knowledge – both in our immediate OT service and with MDT colleagues.
As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you can expect to receive supervision and support to develop the specialist skills necessary for your role.
Your focus in the team will be to:
- holistically assess service users, within their own homes, supporting them to identify solutions which may include:
- small or medium adaptations
- standard equipment that promotes independence
- keeping timely, evidence based clinical records to support your assessments and interventions
- managing day to day aspects of a community clinical case load
- make detailed onward referrals to other teams and services. For example:
- provision of telecare
- social work, physiotherapy or other health and social care services
- recognise and work within the scope and remit of your role, seeking support and guidance as appropriate
As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you should have a basic understanding of the OT profession. Previous experience of working within health or social care is desirable but not essential. We would encourage you to make use of the additional resources below before making an application.
As an Occupational Therapy Assistant, you will be committed to working in line with Ceredigion’s vision to allow people to develop the skills and resilience they need to lead fulfilled lives and achieve their goals. You’ll be eager to learn and share your experience. Most of all you should be as passionate as we are about innovation, teamwork and providing a quality evidence-based service. We work as a team, we value the importance of every team member’s contribution and potential.
Return to qualified Occupational Therapy Practice:

We can support you to work toward re registration and potentially, as vacancies become available, to apply for qualified specialist OT roles within the team (subject to achieving set competencies). This is a unique opportunity to progress toward a specialist OT role.
