Medical Engineering Specialist Technician (Band 6)
The Medical Engineering department provides a wide range of technical, scientific, procurement and management services to NCIC, serving most specialties and departments across Cumbria. The core services are based at the two Acute Hospitals, the Cumberland Infirmary & West Cumberland Hospitals with some specialist satellite Facilities around Cumbria.
The Post holder is responsible for the day-to-day reactive and preventive maintenance of medical devices and equipment ranging from patient monitoring systems, infusion devices, renal dialysis systems, anaesthesia systems and ventilators and will provide cross site support, assistance and cover for the Medical Engineering department in the delivery of its service across both West Cumberland Hospital and Cumberland Infirmary and primary care locations.
The Post holder will mentor, train and certify the work of less experienced medical engineering technicians.
The Post holder will provide support, assistance and cover for the team leader in the day-to-day running of the Medical Engineering department when required.
Main duties of the job
1. Support the Medical Engineering department in the delivery of its service to both the West Cumberland Hospital and Cumberland Infirmary and primary care locations.
2. Manage, repair, test and calibrate biomedical equipment, including complex renal and anaesthetic equipment, used within the Trust, ensuring it is in safe working order.
3. Provide technical advice and information to clinical and non-clinical staff on the evaluation and procurement of new medical devices.
4. Mentor, train and certify the work of medical engineering Technicians.
