This key role is an exciting opportunity to influence the mitigation of risks to compliance and to improve regulatory performance. This role is ideal for someone with knowledge of the water industry who has a keen eye for detail and an interest in data analysis and compliance.
What you'll do
You'll be joining a team of professionals to support the tactical planning of water resources throughout the year and provide accurate and essential data that will underpin plans and decision-making.
The main functions of this role are:
* Leading on fulfilling abstraction compliance regulatory obligations and supporting the business to improve performance and to directly impact our reputation.
* Ensuring the accuracy of the company's data management system to complete regulatory abstraction returns.
* Leading on responding to compliance incidents and coordinating with others to mitigate the risks of environmental impact.
* Identifying current and emerging risks to compliance and playing a key role in communication with the wider business and implementing mitigation strategies.
* Compiling data for various performance commitments within the Annual Performance Review and ensuring audit records are maintained.
This role also provides key support to the wider functions of the Tactical Water Resources team which will include:
* Reporting outages and several other company performance commitments.
* Accurately calculating the company's water into supply data to feed into the internal water resource planning programme to meet demand across our region.
* Tracking and communicating our water resource position and hydrometric data and ensuring we are drought-ready by assisting with drought permit readiness.
What you'll need
This role is data-focused; however, good communication skills and attention to detail are key to this role.
To be successful in this role and to effectively manage our water supply data and compliance, we are looking for someone with the following skills and experience:
* Degree qualified in a science/water-related degree.
* Basic knowledge of water company operations and water supply sources.
* At least two years of experience working within the water industry.
* Proficiency in a range of Microsoft packages and specifically an advanced Excel user.
* Programming skills such as R Studio would be an advantage.
* A keen eye for attention to detail and the ability to perform accurate data analysis.
* Excellent communication skills and the confidence to relay technical information to wider audiences within the business.
