Job Description : Business Leader – Cooperage Cambus, Alloa, Scotland Full-time, Permanent 3-shift rotation pattern Closing Date: 12th November 2024 Join our Supply Team As the home of iconic brands such as Baileys, Guinness, Smirnoff, and Johnnie Walker, at Diageo we source, produce and deliver 6.5 billion litres of world-leading products every year across 180 markets globally. Cambus is a key site within the Scotch spirit supply chain, handling over 9000 tankers of new make & mature spirit per year through the tank farm, exporting to 35 countries worldwide, the cooperage on site produces over a quarter of a million rejuvenated casks and over 100,000 minor repairs per year for the filling of new make malt & grain spirit. Also located on site is a traditional cask filling store, which can fill over 3 million liters of new make malt & grain spirit and contains the bodega sherry cask processing plant. All in all a very lively production site within the Scotch category. About this Role As a Business Leader, you will work at the tier 1 and 2 levels, leading and motivating your team to take accountability for delivering outstanding performance. Your role will ensure compliance with health, safety, environment, quality, cost, and reliability standards while driving adherence to regulatory requirements. You will implement significant changes within a continuous improvement culture, applying high levels of engagement, leadership, and manufacturing excellence methods and tools. In a sophisticated and fast-paced operational environment, you will lead daily complexities to deliver plans safely and effectively. You will also lead the site team in deploying manufacturing excellence practices and handle contractors within your operational business area, including permit writing and contractor management. Key Accountabilities Uphold standards through effective practices and own critical metrics targets across shifts and areas. Set and deliver team goals for quality, safety, and waste, ensuring all team members follow standard operating procedures. Drive performance improvement through ambitious action planning and delivery. Sign off production plans and deploy resources for Asset Care and 5S requirements. Plan and drive the Asset Care agenda, developing team morale, recognizing great performance, and addressing underperformance timely. Apply RCPS principles, lead situational problem-solving, and engage in Daily Operational Review meetings to address performance issues. Build team capability, influence support functions, and lead the team through defined phases of development. About You As a Business Leader, you will need demonstrable leadership skills with a track record of leading hard-working teams, strong ability to manage people performance, and the capacity to coach and develop a multi-disciplined team. Demonstrating role model behaviour and mentoring others to exceed mandatory minimum requirements. The ability to build effective working relationships with partners and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Operational experience is desirable but not essential for this role. Experience working in an exciting, quality- and customer-focused FMCG environment is advantageous. Proactive and structured problem-solving skills developed through exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Manufacturing Excellence is also desirable along with a basic financial awareness and understanding of business drivers and budgeting processes. Ability to plan and deliver critical metric improvement, planning efficiency, adherence to maintenance schedules, continuous improvement (CI), backlog management, and maintenance management, would be advantageous. Experience working within a Performance Management structure, including critical metrics and Tier Review Meeting Structure, proven adherence to Core Processes and Standards, and understanding of Asset Care practices are important.
