As a member of the Cromwell Finance Team, you will own the Capital Investment request and sign-off process, alongside CAPEX reporting, forecasting and planning across the Hospital and our Specialist Diagnostic Centres. Ensuring that the Hospital Fixed Asset Register is accurate and that all capex-related processes are regularly reviewed and are being adhered to.
How you’ll help us make health happen
1. You will be managing the capital expenditure request process (CER) for the hospital and our Specialist Diagnostic Centres.
2. By Producing a weekly view of capex requests for review and sign off by the Cromwell Executive and maintaining an up-to-date record of all CERs and outcomes.
3. Approving of capex purchase orders, ensuring the correct department and project coding has been used.
4. Ensure that capex spend is managed to Plan and provide robust explanations for deviations from Plan, including depreciation variances to plan.
5. Provide a monthly capex Forecast, along with commentary on month-on-month movements, for submission to Group.
6. Responding to queries and identifying opportunities for improvement in processes and reporting.
7. Provide on-going support to senior management for large capex projects within the Hospital and provide up-to-date cost v budget analysis for each project.
Key Skills/Qualifications needed for this role
8. A part qualified accountant or qualified-by-experience working in a capex finance role within a large organisation.
9. Demonstrated understanding of CapEx vs OpEx, with ability to advise on categorisation in line with accounting capitalisation principles and challenge where appropriate.
10. Highly competent in Excel and Power Point. Knowledge of Oracle, Peoplesoft and Compucare would be desirable but not essential.
11. Experience in assisting with business cases, investment appraisals and financial modelling.
12. Experience in producing outputs for senior Management and Executive teams, including the ability to draw out and summarise key messages.
13. Strong organisation, time management and stakeholder management skills
14. An understanding of key Hospital business drivers and operations is desirable.
15. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Confident and robust enough to challenge senior colleagues where appropriate. The ability to build relationships with the wider Finance community and the business at all levels.
