The People Customer Services team is responsible for delivering excellent customer service to officers and staff across Norfolk and Suffolk Constabularies, providing advice and support across a range of HR processes. The role is a key part of the new People Services Team and works closely with other teams to ensure processes are completed to a high standard.
Successful applicants will be trained on the job and be supported in developing within the role. Whilst HR experience is useful, it is not essential to apply for this role. The ideal candidate would have a passion for customer service, be conscientious, and be a good problem solver.

Main Activities of the Role
* To undertake a comprehensive range of people transactional, administrative and IT based processes in connection with the delivery of first and second line support to the business including all areas of the employee lifecycle from onboarding onwards
* To maintain accurate and up-to-date employee and recruitment records and systems, both manual and computerised
* To be responsible for the resolution of people transactional queries some of which may be relatively complex and require a degree of analysis or comparison of options
* To provide advice on the application of both national and local conditions of service for employees
* Preparation of management information, employee data and statistics in order to work in a proactive and planned manner where possible.
* To ensure that all service standards and timescales are met
* To make recommendations for improvements in relation to administrative systems and processes
* Any other duties that are commensurate with the role and grade as may be requested by manager
Person Specification

* Proven and effective administrative skills. Understands the need for confidentiality
* An understanding of how to handle, resolve and escalate enquiries and pass on information promptly
* Excellent customer service skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Confident in using Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint (may be role specific systems)
* Able to plan, manage and review tasks for self and more junior team members
* Excellent interpersonal skills, able to communicate effectively and professionally
* Excellent time management and planning and organisation skills
* Able to support changes in service provision in a positive and constructive manner
* Able to work independently and seek advice and guidance when needed
* Is approachable and confident in coaching more junior members of the team to help them to acquire skills and experience
* Experience of taking ownership for delivering outcomes
* Experience of using information to develop solutions and solve problems
It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:
* Prior experience of working with people systems (such as SAP, T-Police)
* Previous experience of working in a HR, payroll or shared service function
* Knowledge of the broader activities of the Police Service
Hours of work are 18 per week (to be worked as agreed within office hours Monday to Friday). This post is offered on a permanent basis. Salary shown will be pro-rata based on number of hours worked.
