We have an exciting permanent part-time (0.60 FTE) opportunity for a Peer Support Worker I to join the Mental Health Substance Use (MHSU) Homelessness team in Cranbrook, B.C.

Salary Range:
Effective April 1, 2024, the pay scale for this position is $27.92 to $29.60
What will you work on?
A peer support worker is someone with lived experience of recovery from a substance use disorder. They provide support to others experiencing similar challenges. The role is to assist people in finding and following their own recovery paths, without judgment, expectation, rules, or requirements.
The Peer Support Worker (PSW) shares their own lived experience of substance use and mental health, and knowledge of accessing healthcare, services, and supports to assist MHSU clients in their goals. The PSW collaborates with the client and the MHSU team to meet individual needs by providing information from a lived experience perspective, helping clients access services more effectively. Supports include emotional and social support, life skills assistance, information, resources, and demonstrations.
The PSW works with the MHSU team to support clients' self-identified recovery and community integration goals, ensuring services align with values of self-determination, choice, and harm reduction. Services are provided in various environments based on client needs.
Scheduling Information:
Shift types are from 08:30 to 16:30 hours. Days of work are Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
