Financial Accountant
Admiral Insurance is looking to expand its finance team and s seeking to recruit a Financial Accountant. This is a real opportunity within a FTSE Group to shape systems and processes in the Finance function.
Purpose of the Role:
Reporting to the Insurance Accounting Manager, the role will play a key role across both the UK and International insurance entities of the Group. This role covers all aspects of Group reporting and financial control in relation to insurance accounting, including the review and challenge of results, the preparation of insightful analysis and financial statement disclosures, and reviewing processes and controls with a view to continual improvement.
Close working relationships will be built with the UK and International insurance accounting teams to develop a deep understanding of key processes, outputs and controls, and in order to facilitate the opportunity to query and challenge.
The role requires a motivated and hardworking candidate with strong analytical, time management and organisational skills and a focus on data quality and control. Candidates will be qualified in a recognised accounting qualification, ideally with insurance accounting experience for Financial Services Groups.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Preparation and review of key Group financial reporting outputs including profit analysis and financial statement disclosures.
2. Liaison to the international insurance accounting teams to ensure consistency with UK operations, and adherence to Group policies.
3. Review and challenge of international insurance results and disclosures.
4. Review and challenge of adherence to UK SOx.
5. Technical advisor on routine and adhoc key accounting judgments.
6. Preparation of year end statutory accounts and assistance with external audit.
7. Provide additional general support and complete ad-hoc tasks as required.
Key Skills and Qualifications required:
8. Qualified in a recognised accounting qualification.
9. Financial services experience.
10. Good knowledge of financial controls.
11. Self-motivated, proactive with a can-do attitude towards work.
12. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
13. Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
14. Ideally trained in an external audit firm or with internal audit experience
