Battery Test Engineer Location: Gaydon and Coventry – On-site Contract Type: Ongoing, Inside IR35 Rate: £25.53 per hour (Umbrella) Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Battery Test Engineer to deliver high-quality, quality-assured test data to support the development and design verification (DV) of high-voltage (HV) traction battery systems. The role involves planning test activities, coordinating workflows, and leading problem-solving efforts to meet customer test requirements while adhering to safety policies and procedures. The successful Battery Test Engineer will prepare test facilities, automation routines, and test parts, ensuring data delivery aligns with design release activities or technology advancements. Additionally, you will provide quality-assured data, supporting customer teams with analysis and interpretation. Key Responsibilities: Plan and execute test activities, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to safety standards. Prepare the test facility, including automation routines and parts, for assigned test phases. Deliver high-quality test data to support design release activities and technology advancements. Utilise data analysis tools such as AVL Concerto, CANalyzer, and Tableau for efficient data visualisation and interpretation. Conduct HV system analysis, diagnostics, and test automation using CANoe and related tools. Collaborate with teams to analyse and interpret test data for engineering purposes. Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, including Risk Assessments, COSHH, and SDS. Skills Required: A working knowledge of HV powertrain configuration and energy storage technologies. Proficiency in data analysis and visualisation tools, including AVL Concerto, CANalyzer, and Tableau. Expertise in CAN/FlexRay/LIN/Ethernet communication protocols and tools such as CANoe and CANalyzer for HV system analysis, diagnostics, and test automation. Experience Required: Educated to Degree level in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic, or a related field. Experience with test automation and data acquisition systems such as AVL LYNX, LabVIEW, MATLAB, Maccor, or Arbin. Technical expertise in test facility operations and system preparation. Significant experience with data acquisition, analysis, and reporting of test data. A strong understanding of Health and Safety requirements, including Risk Assessment and COSHH. Ability to prepare, validate, and interpret engineering documents. Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 penalty points and no disqualifications. Experience Preferred: Comprehensive understanding of High Voltage HEV/BEV powertrain systems and Lithium-Ion Battery technology. Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt training and certification. Experience with TS16949 or ISO9001 standards, and ISO17025 requirements. Knowledge of instrument calibration processes. Proficiency in programming or scripting languages such as C/C++, Python, or Java
