Job Role
1. Work as part of a team reporting to a Customs Manager.
2. Signing of documents under a Power of Attorney on behalf of clients.
3. Recognise client commercial invoice(s) and packing list(s), extracting data as necessary to complete import declarations.
4. Liaising with importers and internal operational colleagues to obtain mandatory information for import entries.
5. Aiding clients on the classification of goods and their importance.
6. Entering details onto specialised Customs software including CDS, CNS, Destin8, NCTS, NES etc.
7. Allocating the correct licences depending on the type of goods being imported.
8. Application of duty refunds and tariff reclassification as appropriate and will assist with any appeals that may arise.
9. Be fully conversant with import Customs regulations, whilst keeping up to date with changes as they occur.
10. Inform customers on import restrictions, tariff systems, insurance requirements, and all other Customs related matters.
11. Preparation of necessary import documentation, including T-documents, EUR1's, Certificates of Origin (CofO), CVED, and other cargo control documents, as well as discharge process of T-documents etc.
12. Liaise with Port Health or Customs officials in areas such as document checks, goods quarantine etc.
13. Arrange the release of goods from companies Customs approved sites (ETSF locations) and/or port of arrival with liaison with internal colleagues on release, transport & warehousing issues.
Requirements
1. Numerical skills essential, with excellent data handling.
2. Skilled negotiator, communicator, and relationship manager when dealing with all parties involved in the import Customs process.
3. Customer focused, both internally with colleagues and externally with clients.
4. Must be fully conversant with Customs applications such as CHIEF, CNS, Destin8, NCTS, NES etc. and have a good understanding of ETSF warehouse processes.
