About the Role Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals affected by domestic and sexual abuse? The First Step is seeking a dedicated Duty Independent Domestic & Sexual Violence Advocate (IDSVA) to join our team in Knowsley. In this role, you will provide vital support to high-risk victim-survivors of domestic and sexual violence, working to reduce risk and increase safety through comprehensive advocacy, safety planning, and multi-agency coordination. Key Responsibilities Provide proactive advice, support, and advocacy to high-risk victims of domestic abuse. Conduct risk assessments using the Merseyside Risk Indicator Toolkit (MeRIT) and refer appropriate cases to MARAC. Represent and advocate for clients at MARAC meetings and ensure completion of follow-up actions. Collaborate with police, housing providers, social services, healthcare professionals, and other agencies to improve outcomes for clients. Support clients through criminal and civil justice processes, including court attendance and legal referrals. Develop and monitor individual safety plans and assist clients in making informed decisions about housing, legal, and support options. Maintain accurate case records and complete necessary reporting and monitoring requirements. Respond to new referrals, complete initial assessments, and manage a duty caseload of high-risk clients. Ensure compliance with safeguarding procedures, data protection, and best practice standards. What We’re Looking For Experience working with individuals affected by domestic abuse, preferably in an IDVA or advocacy role. Strong understanding of safeguarding adults and children and the legal frameworks involved. Ability to work under pressure, manage a varied caseload, and respond to crisis situations. Experience working in a multi-agency setting, including attending MARACs and collaborating with statutory and voluntary sector partners. Excellent communication, organisation, and IT skills.
