National Express are recruiting an experienced Head of FP&A (Coach) to join the team at our Head Office in Digbeth. The successful candidate will be the primary finance contact for Coach leadership and their teams and will be responsible for the leadership, management, and development of the team of finance professionals and together will analyse, challenge, and drive performance. This role will lead the budget/forecasting and longer-term planning processes and insight and reporting against these targets, providing timely and accurate insight into business performance.
What you'll do:
* Business partner Coach executive team, providing information and insight to enable the Business to understand current and forecast financial performance, identify gaps and gap closing initiatives.
* Design and develop routine and ad hoc analysis and insight to drive and challenge Business performance.
* Develop and drive the commercial finance support to the Business, providing expert financial support to bids and tenders, creating and reviewing outputs to ensure target margins are achieved.
* Lead or act as finance SME on business improvement projects in the Coach Business.
* Represent the Coach business in an accurate and balanced light to the CEO and CFO.
* Feed into group and UK&I processes, working closely with the FP&A Director to produce high quality insight and reporting.
* Be the financial lead in any contractual negotiations, ensuring data and analysis is accurate and complete, as well as providing constructive challenge to ensure business risk is understood and acceptable.
* Manage, coach and develop a team of qualified and part qualified accountants, undertaking regular 121 meetings with direct reports.
* Drive the continuous improvement culture and agenda in the team and wider business.
* Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.
* Implement best practices and encourage a culture where we leverage technology to enhance FP&A capabilities.
* Oversee financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
* Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies.
What you'll need:
* Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA/CIMA) with 5 years + PQE.
* Experience of operating within the transport/manufacturing industry.
* Executive level business partnering, supporting & challenging senior stakeholders.
* Experience of operating and reporting within a Group structure.
* Strategic and analytical thinker who can drive value into the business through financial knowledge and sector experience.
* Expert level communicator, able to influence at all levels of the business.
* Advanced Excel proficiency.
