Project Engineer
Location: Ely, Cambridgeshire
Position type: Full-time, permanent
We are seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our small, high-performing Project Engineering Team at our Head Office in Ely, Cambridgeshire. The Project Engineer forms the hub of the project, manages the engineering & customer-facing activities, and is responsible for the successful completion of each contract.
Responsibilities & Duties:
1. Managing the engineering of the project, ensuring that all phases are carried out to meet the project schedule and budget
2. Coordinating the project team
3. Managing customer communication
4. Leading planned project meetings such as design & constructability reviews, HAZOP, P&ID, GA, process, mechanical, E&I, and control system meetings
5. Managing the implications of changes and ensuring overall design integrity
6. Specifying & procuring equipment for incorporation into the package
7. Providing technical support & feedback to the proposals team
8. Supporting manufacturing activities
9. Participating in testing and inspections
10. Regularly reporting on key deliverables such as man-hours, bought-out items, and completion dates
11. Ensuring the design meets all customer specifications, industry standards, and codes
12. Generating project-specific engineering procedures & documentation
13. Ensuring all drawings & documents meet project requirements
14. Achieving project milestone dates to support cash flow
15. Approving supplier invoices
Qualifications & Skills:
* Mechanical, Chemical, or Process Engineering Degree
* Demonstrable experience in a project engineering role—preferably with a history of working on bespoke engineered packages for the energy industry
* Strong communication, negotiation, technical, and organizational skills
This is mainly an office-based role, although some travel to workshops, suppliers, or customer sites may be required occasionally, both nationally and internationally.
