DAC Beachcroft is looking to appoint a paralegal to join the Public Sector Team within our wider Casualty Injury Team. This is a role working predominantly with other senior team members handling and assisting on employers and public liability claims with a value up to £100k.
There will also be an opportunity for the candidate to run their own cases in the future if they so wish.
Our National Public Sector Team whose clients are a mix of leading names in the insurance industry as well as numerous Local Authorities, Police Forces, and other public bodies, deal with all aspects of defendant litigation, to include everything from trips-slips on the highway, accidents in schools, and housing claims.
Increasingly, the team is getting involved in pre-emptive advice on these issues as well as dispute resolution.
What you will do
* Handle and assist with the running of claims to ensure that deadlines are met and cases managed proactively to conclusion.
* Ensure work is carried out effectively to meet the needs of the clients, the commercial requirements of the firm and the quality standards to include:
o Adherence to internal and client SLAs, KPIs and protocols.
o Achievement of agreed financial targets.
o Prompt billing and collection of WIP and disbursements.
o Prompt and accurate provision of MI.
o Supporting a clear case strategy which is adhered to, ensuring cases are run smoothly and balance the commercial interests of both the Firm and the client.
o Applying appropriate and current technical expertise and case law.
o Effectively managing risk and compliance issues within each case, ensuring any emerging problems are escalated promptly to their Supervisor in the first instance.
o Engaging with clients where appropriate to maximise opportunities to meet and build rapport with clients, at all times acting as an ambassador of the firm.
o Contribute to Business Development and client relationship activity where required.
o Maintaining and developing technical knowledge through attendance at training sessions and reading appropriate publications.
Who you are
* You will have some experience in a Paralegal role within personal injury, preferably EL/PL.
* You may also have experience of working on Multi-Track or Fast-Track litigated and/or pre-litigated claims.
* Experience of working with public sector clients may also be an advantage.
* A high level of personal compliance with firm protocols and procedures.
* Good legal knowledge relevant to their area of expertise.
* Good organisation skills, able to work to deadlines, prioritise own workload and meet conflicting demands.
* An ability to adopt a commercial perspective to legal issues. High standard of written and oral communication skills.
* Able to produce work to a high standard, with excellent attention to detail and concern for quality of service.
* Team oriented and collegiate with a willingness to share knowledge with and support other members of the team.
* Demonstrates alignment with the Firm’s Cultural Principles (Clear, Creative, Determined and Supportive).
