Job overview
The Ward Manager is responsible for the operational management of a range of aspects of service delivery within the team and for clinical/managerial supervision of professional staff according to trust values. To ensure safe, caring, responsive, high-quality service is provided to service users, their families and carers within the clinical environment by ensuring compliance with Statutory and Regulatory requirements and Trust Policies, pathways, standard operating procedures and protocols.
The Ward Manager will provide professional governance and leadership within their area.
Main duties of the job
1. Oversee the 24-hour service delivery to ensure efficient and effective operations.
2. Lead and manage the team, ensuring they are well-trained, informed, and competent to perform their duties.
3. Implement regular supervision, appraisals, objective setting, and personal development plans.
4. Maintain safe staffing levels within budgetary constraints to ensure patient safety.
5. Establish and maintain governance procedures to promote communication, learning, and best practices.
6. Efficiently manage the delegated team budget and resources.
7. Facilitate audits and implement recommendations to support continuous improvement.
8. Demonstrate a clear understanding of service user needs and care requirements.
9. Contribute expertise to multidisciplinary team (MDT) care decisions.
10. Deliver care within a patient-centred framework involving service users, families, and carers.
11. Comply with trust policies, guidelines, and protocols.

Person specification
Experience
* Able to demonstrate experience at a senior clinical level including some staff management/supervision experience.
* Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team.
* Evidence of providing leadership in a Mental Health care environment including service development.
Qualifications
* Nursing degree or equivalent, Dip SW or Dip OT or equivalent, or HCPC registered.
* Higher degree or post-graduate certificate in area of clinical/therapeutic practice.
* ILM certificate in management or equivalent.
