Included in Corporate and Shared Services are the business functions including Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Legal, Compliance, Corporate Development and Corporate Marketing. The Corporate and Shared Services teams work closely with all Novanta business units to support operating initiatives contributing to the organization’s financial success. **Summary**The position of Trade Compliance Analyst will be responsible for ensuring all import and export transactions within the various Novanta Corporation businesses are completed within applicable government export rules and regulations. This role supports the Trade Compliance Department and requires the candidate to have the ability to understand and clearly communicate import and export rules and regulations, as well as internal company trade compliance policies. **Primary Responsibilities*** Assists with the ongoing development and maintenance of the company trade compliance program.* Assists with the development and implementation of company import and export policies and procedures.* Provides import instructions to carriers and brokers as required for inbound shipments. * Review and approve manual shipper forms for export shipments.* Reviews and audits transactions for compliance with government regulations and internal procedures.* Determines requirements for, and requests, End User Certificates and other documents; and reviews to determine completeness and acceptance.* Works within Oracle and Amber Road to review and release license determination and denied party holds following a complete review of the transaction.* Reviews visitor requests to determine any license requirements.* Maintain an understanding of the Harmonized Tariff Schedule and how to assign product classifications. * Review and update Harmonized Tariff Classifications as needed.* Reviews and determines the eligibility of products for claims under Free Trade Agreements.* Makes determinations regarding applicability of license exceptions and exemptions.* Maintains applicable trade compliance records in accordance with regulatory requirements and internal procedures.* Interacts with internal company personnel to provide guidance on import/export regulatory requirements and participates in training and audit assessment programs to ensure implementation and effectiveness of internal controls.* Assists Trade Compliance Managers and Director with any government investigations or audits.* Stays current and informed of customs and export regulation updates and changes and assesses how and if they affect the company’s Trade Compliance requirements.**General Tasks*** Maintain strict compliance with the quality, environmental and occupational health and safety regulations and implementation of the instructions of the quality, environmental management and/or occupational health and safety officer.**Required Experience, Education, Skills, Training and Competencies*** 1-3 Years working with International Import and Export Regulations; with hands-on experience handling transactions and working with carriers and brokers.* Excellent Interpersonal, communication, and writing skills, including a strong ability to interact productively with all levels across the company.* Ability to learn quickly, works independently with minimal supervision, manage and prioritize multiple tasks and lead intermediate projects and investigations in a team environment.* Sound judgment, meticulous attention to detail, and excellent leadership skills.* Experience working with international customers and export control laws highly preferred.* Highly responsive and efficient; able to prioritize issues and execute multiple tasks daily.* Self-motivated, proactive approach with strong analytical skills and sound judgment.* Excellent organizational, writing, and interpersonal skills. **Travel Requirements*** Less than 10%**Physical Requirements*** Mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer.* Ability to use vison to read computer screen and read printed materials(*) Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) Novanta is proud to be an equal employment opportunity and affirmative action workplace.
